A Special presentation by ALMA Textile Curator Susan Lind-Sinanian

On June 16, 2010, ALMA hosted “Out of the Closet: Fabrics, Facts and Fiction,” a gallery talk by Textile Curator Susan Lind-Sinanian in the Museum’s Bedoukian Gallery.  The free program was held in conjunction with the Museum’s latest exhibit Fabric of a Culture:  Traditional Armenian Costumes, which features the largest North American display of authentic Armenian costumes from the late 19th century to 1915.

Susan Lind SinanianDuring the program, textile enthusiasts learned about defining regional features of Armenian urban and village costumes as well as the components for men, women and children’s dress.   Susan also discussed the hidden talents of Armenian textile manufacturers who produced beautiful brocaded silk wedding garments using examples from ALMA’s Textile Collections and Fabric of a Culture

Following the presentation, audience members had the chance to ask Susan questions and walk through Fabric of a Culture
